Brett Manuel | North’s Engagement All-Rounder

Using his broad skill set, Brett has worked with more than 7 very diverse clients in his first year with North including council, government, not for profit and private businesses Brett’s roles have included project lead, workshop facilitator, stakeholder engagement coordination and communications writer.   Brett has proven his ability to provide advice to staff, clients and stakeholders, design major engagement programs and facilitate events and community meetings.

Brett is an example that every job, no matter how big or small, holds value to the community.

Drawn to human interactions

It was during large government infrastructure and policy projects that Brett found himself drawn to engagement and ensuring the voices in the community were being heard. 

“I particularly enjoyed the challenge and opportunities to work with the community and special interest groups – I’m drawn to human interactions” 

“I’ve always seen stakeholder engagement as a way to help the community when they’re impacted by a project and involving them where possible”

With years of experience, Brett continues to learn new skills daily. Within our diverse team of engagement practitioners, engineers, project managers and estimators he takes these skills to encourage and mentor junior staff to help them adopt engagement principles in everything we do.

“A lot of people want to do engagement or think they can do engagement, but for me it’s been a 15-year journey that I will continue in, learning skills and techniques and I want to pass the knowledge onto others”

Facilitation Expert

Brett facilitates workshops and events for a variety of clients – not-for-profit, business, local government and state government agencies.  Brett has presented to crowds of varying sizes, directing conversations, and delivering above and beyond expectations. 

Connection to the greater team 

Brett’s prior experience in infrastructure delivery, community engagement and project management has enabled him to become an essential member of the North team.
